Peril of a politician

He promised to uphold equity and won peoples' vote of trust,
But once elected, he was less productive and more corrupt;
He used caste, community, religion and reservation as tools,
Deceiving the credulous citizens, he made them dumb fools;
He proclaimed, “The nation will progress in leaps and bounds”,
But there were successive scams and coffers devoid of pounds;
He was honored and adorned as a revolutionary, a spark,
But he betrayed the trust and guided talented amateurs to the dark;
What a callous leader he was, with corruption as his chief hallmark,
Who blemished the moral values and left incurable, indelible marks;
He was an antonym for progress, as obscure as a murky fog,
Who carried out loot and plunder, and called himself a watchdog!
He called himself secular and triggered communal rage and rancor,
Who was supposed to be their guardian, tortured the meek and poor;
A mere burden on the resources, he drained out the nations’ wealth,
But was still ambitious and avaricious irrespective of his age and ill health;
Think for a while, is such a politician really the leader of a common man?
Why not elect a noble leader instead of a vagabond, when you really can.
