The most memorable day of my life
Essentially, a person without a definitive goal cannot experience the thrill and exhilaration of success in life. A goal must be specific and attainable and its image needs to be sharpened continually, so that it stands out vividly in your thoughts. Strong and organised purposefulness towards a definite objective tend to focus your powers into a strong motivation in attainment of your goal. For this precise reason, I make an endeavour to seek out problems, convert them to challenges and embrace them with courage. It's comforting to know that you can always count on your own abilities to help you recover from any setback and solve any problem.
Life
unfolds a plethora of events as it progresses, exposing an individual to a
litany of obstacles, drowning him/her into a delirium of ecstasy or sorrow.
These memories, both bitter and sweet, leave an indelible mark on the mind of a
person who mourn or cherish them in life.
The
ingress of one such memorable moment dropped as a manna in my life a few years
ago. It was indeed a grand day for me, when I was awarded the prestigious
“Times of India – Student of the year 2008-09” award and appointed as the ‘House
Captain’of my school on the same day. It was an exquisite moment for me to
revel when my hard work had paid off, an occasion too grand for me to bask in
the glory of my success. I had a widespread ambivalence towards my achievement.
It was as if the air surrounding me was redolent with enthusiasm and my pulse
quickened upon getting a whiff of this aroma.
Never before in my life was I embraced with such unctuous cheers, with myriad
wishes and congratulations pouring in. I felt as if I was placed on a high
pedestal and an aura of ecstasy suffused my veins.
Success
is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as
by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed. This success
disgruntled and chafed many of my ‘friends’ who were enviously in cahoots
nitpicking and squabbling over the judgement. Unabashed by this ephemeral
criticism, I was determined to carry on my responsibilities and act
pragmatically to prove true to the expectations of my mentors and peers who had
bestowed their trust on me. While setting a yardstick for myself, it was my
goal to which I assigned the highest priority.
What
a memorable day it was!
